Of course, after all that talk this weekend about how it never rains in texas, or at least not in the summer, and not ‘normal’. I come home to a pleasant rainy texas. So for the 4th, we went to a nearby lake and had a cookout with some folks….in the rain. A nice, steady drizzle…for about 4 hrs, and then it finally stopped, just in time for the fireworks…of course. It was a rather interesting scene. 6 canoes tied haphazardly together, 3 on each side, to a pontoon type boat (i think). Yeah, if only i had a picture of THAT. But I’m not that clueless. My camera was safely on the shore in the hands of someone who i trusted…and who was dry. And good too, because although our canoe did not go down, two of the six did. But the fireworks were nice, the brats were good and we had a good view of the lake. Honestly, and everyone who went will agree, the most ‘adventurous’ part of the whole trip…was finding a place to use the facilities…or i mean….find a place to create some facilities because the ones that were there were………worse than a porta-potty on the very last day of country concert….or any multiday festival you have ever been too. ugh. but the trees were beautiful. 😉 Here are some nicer photos of people and fireworks. Not the facilities.
