Thank Heaven for 7-11

Ok, so it’s been quite the weekend! My cousin Wyatt and his wife Nikki had a new baby girl named Tessa this weekend and she is adorable! John went up to Ohio for Matt’s bachelor party and from what he’s told me they had quite a good and rowdy time. Matt might recooperate in time for the wedding. I had a less eventful weekend filled with studying and work, but I did squeeze in some fun hang out time with my friends from work and my quest for the crystal light slurpee. Thus, the title. One of the women at my internship was talking about the new crystal light slurpee from 7-11. I love slurpees! And until now had been denied slurpee satisfaction due to the extremely high sugar content. So I was very excited to learn about the sugar free slurpee. The flavor currently available is peach-mango. I like peach, and I like mango, tada! So thursday night i decide i’ll stop in at the 7-11 by school and get one after class. I stop in, and alas, the spot where the crystal light slurpee is supposed to be swirling around….is empty. Dissapointed, but not dissuaded, I remember that there is a 7-11 near our house, so I’ll just go there. Ok, so I drive to 7-11 #2, go in and -no crystal light slurpee on the menu- but, they have diet pepsi slurpees. So, that sounds like it would be ok, so i decide to get one. I’ve done all this work to get a slurpee, i’m going to have a slurpee. I grab a nice big cup, and pull on the slurpee bar thingy, and …no slurpee. It’s there. I see it spinning around. But no slurpee. So i mess with the little lever and manage to get half of the cup full (this process takes about 6 minutes- i was very stubborn about the slurpee). So, finally i ask one of the employees if they know what is wrong with the diet pepsi slurpee lever. He says no, it’s been acting up and he doesn’t know why. I ask him how much for the slurpee i’ve gotten out of the machine so far, and he was like “does it taste ok?” So i take a sip, and i say “it tastes like frozen diet pepsi”. So he says, “I’m not going to charge you for that, have a nice night.” So, although I was not successful in obtaining my original goal of the crystal light slurpee, I did inadvertantly end up with a free partial diet pepsi slurpee. Not bad. So the next day…. I continued my quest for the peach mango slurpee. There was in fact a 7-11 one block east of the 7-11 closest to my house. So I stopped there on my way to an appointment, hoping they would have the right slurpee and it would work. I walk in and sure enough, jackpot. Peach/mango slurpee in perfect working order. I get a super big one this time, and fill it up, go to the counter and as i’m paying i look down and it had deflated to half the size of the cup. I am normally not a picky person, but at this point, I wanted the right slurpee, working correctly, and filling my cup. The guy looked at it and said, “you can go fill that up to the top again”. Thank goodness. So, slurpee in hand I go out to the car, take a nice big sip, and…it’s pretty good. But it didn’t justify all of the work i had put into it. It was actually a bit too sweet. I only drank half of it. haha. so i’m going to go back to the diet pepsi slurpees, and not just because they’re free. =) night ya’ll
