Bad Caffeine Day

I just realized that “i before e except after c”, does NOT apply to the word caffeine…unless you count the ‘c’ at the beginning…but I doubt that’s in the spirit of the rule. Go figure. Anyway, it’s not been a very healthy eating/drinking day. Not horrible, mind you, just not the best. Particularly in the beverage department. 1- I have not had enough liquids today, and 2- they have all been caffeinated or diet. If I am to have a chance of matching my last time on the mile, (did I mention I was trying to improve my time running the mile?) I need to drink some water soon. Otherwise I’ll smell of Folgers all through yoga class. yum.
Anyhow, yes I am running. Not a lot, this is me we’re talking about here. I was inspired by a friend who HATES running even more than I do. She was trying to get her mile under 10 minutes and has finally been able to do it. So last week I did my first mile. Ouch. Everyone who knows me knows that I’m not a big fan of long-distance running. I’m a sprinter, not saying I’m fast, I just prefer sprinting over long distance. Anyhow my first time was 11 minutes and 17 seconds. Yikes. I know. But I underestimated myself and started slower than I should have. I went back again this Monday and ran the mile in 10 minutes and 30 sec. Much better. So I’ll let you know when I finally break the 10 minutes.
Hopefully this will help me get used to running so I’ll be ready to start training for the Mud Run this summer. More about that later.
(J, please don’t tell me how fast you can run a mile. I don’t think I can handle knowing that just yet. But maybe we could ‘run’ when you come and visit!)
So, I guess I better go drink some water.
